Next, came the Coast Guard. A lifesaver was thrown into the water in front of the man. “Here, take hold, we’ll save you!” the officer called out. But, the man didn’t budge saying “No, I’ve asked the Lord to come save me and I have faith that he will.”

Finally, a Helicopter flew overhead. The rope ladder was dropped in front of the man and someone called down, “Grab hold, I’ll pull you to safety.” The man yelled back, “No, I’ve asked the Lord to come save me and I have faith that he will.”

The water levels rose and the man eventually drowned. Upon entering Heaven, the man approached God. “God, I’ve been a loyal and devoted servant. Why couldn’t you come to save me?”

God looked at the man and said, “Jeez, I sent you a boat, the Coast Guard and a helicopter, what more did you want?”

I’m not a religious person, but I use this story to make my decisions when it comes to work. If an opportunity is placed in your lap, grab it, otherwise you just end up drowning in regret.

So I know what you are feeling. I’m hoping soon that my writing can be full time. I love doing it, I love the people (hugs the dan). But when you’ve been at the same day job for 10 years you start to realize “Jesus Christ, I’ve been here nearly a third of my life!” Yeah, that’s a scary thought.

Change of any kind is scary but I think I’ve gone through enough I want the next part of the journey to be on my terms. The bypass surgery was my choice, but the 450 blood sugars sort of made that mandatory. But its made my life better by leaps and bounds. I’m a new person.

So, yes change happens, when and when you don’t want it to. The thing is, when its out of your hands, so something for yourself that you CAN control. Change your hair color, get a new tat, or grab life by the balls and do something you’ve always wanted.
