The Green Room in Hollywood = Assholes

Every city has them; the phony wanna-be somebody’s who have found their way into a power position. It is true; we have a higher concentration of phonies here in Hollywood, and tonight at The Green Room located inside The Cabana Club at 1439 Ivar street in Hollywood, The main asshole was the dude who ran the place…or at least acted like he ran the place. The guy tonight was an older dude, who decided to get in my face for putting my empty glass down on a table. The table looked like a coffee table and had a bunch of empties on it, so while in mid conversation, I set the empty glass down. Instantly the host dude got in my face and asked if it was my table (knowing full and well that it was not). I didn’t even know what he was talking about or where he came from. In the most condescending manner, he spoke down to me and schooled me that it was a dinner table (in the center of a bar) that some one was eating at. I politely smiled and apologized, as I had no idea that they even served food, let along at a table so low to the ground. He reiterated in so many words that the people at the table were clearly more important than I was and deserved more respect than I had shown them.

Now if it had ended there it would have been no big deal, but he literally (with a smile on his face ) got right in my face to tell me how rude I was do have done that and to be more mindful of others. He continued to berate me with seemingly polite, yet backhanded insults, and took the glass and walked away all arrogant. I admit that if I was eating at a restaurant and someone set an empty glass on my table I might be upset, but this dude got in my face as if he was ready to start a fight.

Now after being confronted, I was getting annoyed, not pissed, just annoyed. I decided it was time to leave, in the process of trying to get out of any of the five marked exits the same asshole was pushing me to usher these rude Hollywood bitches into a back room (marked with an exit sign). I just wanted to leave, and now this guy is physically shoving me and my girl out of the way so his rude ass bitches could get to some forbidden section of the club. I asked about 4 people where the exit was and each time lead me to another door that was blocked by some sort of security guard directing me to another exit. (I should have called the fire marshal!)

This was like the guy at the door who decides if you are “cool enough” to get inside HIS bar. I work at a job where I regularly meet people with hopes and dreams of making movies, 99% of the time they really are aspiring filmmakers who are excited to talk about their (possible) projects. In a trendy club like this, you meet the assholes who talk down to you and try to act important, because in the current job they hold, they are lowly hosts at a trendy bar. Just because you know some famous people, or have some power (if you want to call it that) doesn’t give you the right to be rude and insulting to ANYONE.

Don’t talk down to me, don’t insult me, and certainly don’t shove me; it is just plain rude. Tonight was an industry event that I had been invited to, for coverage on our website. My opinion of the event is now changed by some asshole who repeatedly decided to be shitty. How many other people was this guy rude to? How many other people did he shove? If you get the chance to check out the trendy Hollywood bar called The Green Room…DON’T GO. Don’t waste your money on the overpriced drinks, unsafe bar and save your energy to go somewhere fun. Stay away from The Green Room, unless you like getting angry!
