Le Petit Salon and how 2008 has ruled!
Last night I was invited to show my two puppet films to a group of artists, musicians, composers, journalists, directors and writers at The Le Petit Art Salon in Burbank. About 40 or so people were there to check out and support the eclectic styling’s of the different kinds of art involved, and it was a blast! Beatnik poetry, spec commercials, (my) puppet films, insane music, virtuoso piano playing, poetry readings and even a short horror film!
Let me be perfectly clear, that this kind of event is certainly out of my comfort zone. While the group of people is all awesome and amazingly talented, I am not used to going anywhere to watch performance art and piano playing. My normal life brings me to concerts, bars and movie stuff almost daily, but this is just weird. I feel honored to have been a part of it. I had been to one of the Salon events in the past, but this was my first time showing something I had created.
Twilight The Puppet Saga and Repo the Puppet Opera screened in the second half of the evening and it was the first time I have watched either of them with a crowd. The response was amazing and wonderful! Even the people who were not familiar with either of the original movies were laughing and even cheering. It was a great night…that got even better…During the last performance My wife Tammy called to tell me that The author of Twilight Stephenie Meyer had contacted her through MySpace and told her that she really liked The Twilight Puppet Saga!
This year has been so kick ass, with so many things getting out there to the public. We finished the VFX on WICK (a film I helped produce), finished 13 episodes of BDTV, pitched 2 TV shows, created two puppet films, interviewed hundreds of celebrities, my first art gallery exhibit at Hyaena, then traveled internationally to movie sets and horror conventions, and now as we approach the end of the year, I am feverishly working on the next TWO creative endeavors.
None of this would have been possible without the help of the many people involved in the various projects. Especially Brian Smith, Micah Gallo, Mr. Disgusting, Ryan Rotten, EvilPaul, Tom Zimmerman, Elisa Dowling, Jovanka Vuckovic, Anthony Diblasi, Bill Shafer, Darren Bousman, Terrence Zdunich, Jamie Thompson, Rob G. John Toranni, Brian Collins, Shannon Robles, Shana Deter, Jeremy Cross and so many more! Most of all I have to thank Tammy, without her unwavering belief in my crazy ideas, none of this would have happened! THANK YOU!!!
Just wait and see what I have in store for you in 2009!
Watch the Puppet films here!

That rocks, Dan! So proud of you. And thanks for mentioning me. You owe me nothing! Too bad I won’t be in LA this month, but at least you won’t have me bumming around your house for three weeks! We’ll be up for Forry’s party in mid-January for sure and we’ll all be crashing on your floor!!!
